Travel & Stay

The closest major airport is in Denver. Please allow plenty of time for travel and any connections, Colorado weather can be unpredictable.

From there, we recommend renting a car to drive about 1.5 hrs to Estes Park. It’s a relatively easy drive up into the mountains. We can help arrange carpools if needed.

Getting there

Where to stay

We recommend staying at the Holiday Inn (formerly the Ridgeline Hotel) near Downtown Estes Park. The Fall River Village Resort is another great option that has 2-4 bedroom condos, similar to an Airbnb. Alex and Ariel will be renting a cabin at the Estes Park Resort. We will have shuttles leaving from these main locations for the wedding.

There are no Ubers in Estes Park so please stay close to one of these drop-off points if you choose to book elsewhere.

Things to do

Lake Estes Park Trail

There is a beautiful lake right in town that you can walk around. The whole loop is about 4 miles. Consider stopping at the Estes Park Resort for lunch on your way back.

The Stanley Hotel

Calling all horror fans! This is the hotel where Stephen King got inspiration for The Shining. You can simply walk around or they offer daily tours. They also have a bunch of bars and restaurants if that's more your scene.

Rocky Mountain National Park

If you have time, explore Rocky Mountain National Park – it's just four miles from downtown Estes Park. If you're driving, beware of possibly long lines to get into the park and plan accordingly. There is also the Bustang Shuttle which is quite affordable and goes from downtown to the park on Saturdays and Sundays.

More Outdoors Recs

If you want a true taste of Colorado, there's plenty of activities to go around. From horseback riding to white river rafting to fly fishing, Estes Park has probably got it.

 FAQs

  • Yes! The ceremony will be outside in a beautiful mountain field and the reception will be in a tent nearby.

  • The dress code is semi-formal. If you’d like to dress up, tuxes and gowns are welcome but so are suits and cocktail or midi dresses. There will be grass and uneven terrain so we recommend block heels or flats. It can sometimes get chilly at night so bring a wrap or jacket.

  • We absolutely love your kids but we have decided to do an adults only wedding. However, you're welcome to bring them to Estes Park to enjoy the weekend with us. Thanks so much for understanding.

  • As you know we love animals! But our venue doesn't allow them sadly so even Ellie will be staying home. If you plan to bring them for the weekend, check with the hotel and Airbnb to see what their pet policy is.
